NorthStar Scientists at The Science Museum of Minnesota

Please note that the Charter School will only be able to admit a limited number of students. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds that number, admissions will be granted through a lottery. Students not chosen will be placed on a waiting list.

Parents and students should understand from the very beginning that NorthStar Community Charter School places great emphasis on hard work, intellectual rigor, and individual accountability. Parents, please make sure your students understand this.

Before applying, please explore our website thoroughly. On our “About” page, we’ve also provided links to other resources you may find helpful. By the way, be sure to check out our FAQ page. Then, if you still have questions, please feel free to Contact us.

Students: If you and your parents agree that NorthStar Community Charter School is right for you, then you can apply online. First, however, you’ll want to take some time and collect your thoughts. In addition to basic information like your name, school district, address, and e-mail, you’ll also need to provide longer answers to the following questions:

  1. What interests you about attending this school?
  2. Do you like being outside in all kinds of weather? If so, why? If not, why not?
  3. To be a student at NorthStar, you need to be interested in learning. You also need to be able to be responsible and independent. Write a short description of what you are interested in learning, and how you can be a responsible and independent NorthStar team member. Use examples from your background to illustrate your points.

We suggest you begin by composing your answers off-line. Take your time, and consider these questions carefully. Save your answers in a separate file. Later, you can copy and paste them into the online form.

Once you and your parents have talked over your answers, click here. You’ll be directed to the main Northwood School website. Click on NorthStar Community Charter School, and then complete the online application form. Applications for the 2012-2013 school year are also available at NorthStar.

Or, to request an application form you can complete off-line, call Northwood School at 715-466-2297.
